August can be
a tough month if it becomes dry. However August 2004 was
a definite improvement on 2003 when we had a drought.
Instead a steady supply of rain has helped to maintain good
levels in the rivers and I hope to report a few Salmon in the
September gallery. Late in August Stuart Forsyth arrived
for his second week long trip all the way from Scotland,
proving that the fishing really is something special here in
the Westcountry. Here are a few highlights from 23 days

day course having started fly fishing in 2003.

Pursglove of Bampton, Devon, got stuck into her first
ever day of fly fishing in style by landing this 7lb
Rainbow from the Exe Valley
Fishery. One of our best fish of the 2004
season.

21st
& 22nd August 2004
Mark
Berry, an art dealer (www.youareart.co.uk)
from London, gave us a call looking
for a weekend of adventure with a couple of close
mates. We set about organising a trip to include
lake fishing, fly fishing a river and a chance to cast
for Bass. The lake session was superb with fish
taking dries off the surface and before long the 3 man
team had caught several good fish. |

With their casts in tip
top condition after a morning of tuition we decided to
head for a session on the
River Exe. All 3 caught some nice fish and
Mark Berry pictured above had a real run around from an
escaped Rainbow Trout which had obviously spent a good
deal of time in the river. Our saltwater
session proved tough with a build up of bad weather
lowering the pressures. However the guys were
treated to some fantastic scenes as the clouds banked up
and all of them managed to catch their first Bass.
