20th August 2005 -
Matthew Mowtram & Friends
During periods of high
temperature, stillwaters often suffer and the Trout
become tough to catch. This is just the time to try a
bit of Fly Fishing for
Bass. There seem to be guides springing up all
over the Westcountry promising big fish and comparing
our U.K. sport to that available abroad. This is
an exaggeration, but for a few hours of great fun in
exciting surroundings, estuary fly fishing for Bass is
hard to beat. Here Matthew Mottram prospects for a
fish while a tall ship sails past in the background. |

26th
& 28th August 2005 - Alasdare Lambert
Alasdare
first visited Nick Hart Fly Fishing with no fly fishing experience
to enjoy one of our courses.
Since then he has become a serious enthusiast taking a
wide range of species on fly including Trout and
Grayling. This time he fancied something really different
so we set out in search of a Carp taken using a fly
rod. After several hours of patience and accurate
casting Alasdare banked 2 fish, one at 12lb and another
at 15lb. The great thing about Fly Fishing for
Carp is that these fish love the warm weather and will
feed actively on the surface making them a great alternative
to Trout when the going gets tough.

COMMENT :
Just
a note to let you know that yet again I had a fantastic time being
guided and educated by you on some of the finer points of fly fishing.
My fourth visit with you and I can honestly say that the time goes way
too
quickly. Fishing for carp was a first for me and catching two in the
12-15lb range on a fly rod (and missing three others) was an amazing
experience. Following that up with a day on Wimbleball bagging some
fighting fit rainbows and a session after wild brownies on a lovely
little westcountry stream that had been barely fished made it a
perfect three days
with you.
As
usual it's been the perfect tonic and (to paraphrase Heinekin)
refreshed the parts other sporting activities don't reach!
