THE GALLERY - A NEW YEAR - A NEW SEASON - FEBRUARY 2005

With Christmas long forgotten, the most depressing day of the year (27th Jan apparently!) over and the nights beginning to draw out we can all begin to look forward to that magnificent spectacle which is the English spring time.  This is a perfect time to dust off the tackle and sort out the casting.  In fact the phone has been busy during the first week of February with many regular guests booking in their fishing early.  Some have even braved the cold weather and visited for a casting tune up.  Our first full day of the year was enjoyed in the company of Jeff Bradley who came along with many questions and plenty of enthusiasm.  Despite several attempts he had failed to catch a Trout but by the end of the day that had all changed, find out more below.  I have a feeling that 2005 is going to be an excellent season, we hope to enjoy some of it in your company.

Saturday 5th February 2005

We have had little rain for 2 weeks but looking out of the window on this cold February morning it looked as if Jeff Bradley had picked the wrong weekend with grey skies, a cold wind and rain.  However the weather people got it wrong (again!) and fairly soon after starting our session the rain stopped.  The wind eased and by the afternoon we had some lovely sunshine.  Jeff had many questions and we looked in detail at casting and how to select flies.  With the line flying out over the lake and turning over nicely it was not long before our imitative fly approach had provided success and I was soon netting Jeff's first ever Trout.  Two more fish followed and Jeff parted with the comment that he "hoped his wife may stretch to another gift voucher for his birthday!"

Nick Hart Fly Fishing with Mystery Celebrity! Celebrity Under Fly Fishing Pressure!

14th - 16th Feb 2005

In January I received a call to help with the ITV programme, "Celebrities Under Pressure", now in its 4th series.   The show was filmed at the Tan Y Myndd fishery in North Wales.

Hosted by Vernon Kaye it will be aired in June / July 2005.  Until then I am afraid the celebrity has to remain a mystery, all will be revealed in the summer!!!
