About
Seychelles
Located
approximately 600 miles south west of Mahe and 200 miles North
of Madagascar in the far reaches of the Aldabra chain lies
Cosmoledo. This stunning jewel in the Indian Ocean is home to
some of the finest wildlife and flats fishing anywhere on the
globe, and is an adventure in itself. A 3 hour flight from Mahe
to Assumption, followed by an overnight crossing aboard the
“Indian Ocean Explorer” will have you standing on flats that
have hardly seen fishermen, and fish that have barely seen
flies. It is a bonefish and trevally heaven. The Indian Ocean
Explorer is being used during the purchase of a brand new luxury
schooner.

Typically anglers
will be up early and after a quick breakfast head out to the
flats to fish the first tide in two tender boats. After the
session they’ll be collected and returned to the “Indian
Ocean Explorer” for lunch before heading out later the
afternoon for the second fishing session. During the midday
break anglers snorkel, tie flies, or just laze around the boat.
Number wise, experienced anglers can catch as many as fifty
bonefish per day, and giant trevally of over 70lbs have been
landed on the atoll on fly tackle. There are also the famous
milkfish which are often caught with the help of the Fly
Castaway guides. There is no shortage of fish, and with the
offshore fishing a mere 250 yards from the shore there is plenty
of opportunity to tangle with bluewater species as well. |
