May has been yet another busy month,
from 3 day courses for novice anglers to a few hours with one of my youngest,
and most "natural" casters, 14 yr old James Wombwell.
Here are just a few of the days
from another fully booked May, see below for a images and thoughts for
the month.

12th
May : Noel and Che
Keen Coarse Fishermen, these 2 guys
wanted to get to grips with Trout. They did just that taking fish after
fish on dry fly having spent just a few hours learning to cast. |

I had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the tuition and practice.
We ate the large trout on Sunday night.......beautiful. You have an excellent
set up down there and I will certainly be recommending you to my fishing
friends.

Broken
Rods
It so nearly ended in disaster.
This is a good lesson to learn, rods and convertible BMWs don't mix!

& 18 May : Eric Twitchen
An improving Angler, Eric concentrated
on mastering his casting and learning about "imitative" fly fishing. He
caught some fish too ... including Rainbow, Tiger and Blue Trout! |

First
Pike Session
May 19th :
A tough day but still some success was to be had. Here one of my regular
guests cradles a 10lb Pike caught on Fly |

Session 2 !
May 24th :
Now it really mattered because I was guiding Henry Gilbey, while filming
for his new Discovery Channel
show. He was over the moon with this 18 pounder, and so was I ! |

Other days that stand out are :
May 9th with Clive Ireland drifting Clatworthy
Reservoir. A great days fishing to rising fish, using dry flies.
May 14th
and I was guiding Roger Bignell, in very poor conditions we hooked a Salmon
that we conservatively estimated at over 12lbs. Unfortunately as we were
fishing for Sea Trout and the 6 weight rod was just not up to the job.
We lost the fish after around 5 minutes, but it was still a real adrenaline
rush. Unlucky Roger!
