THE GALLERY - JULY 2005

July is always a busy month, a great time for fishing and also the time of year when the CLA gamefair takes place, widely regarded as the largest in the world.  We did of course go fishing and Pete Tyjas and myself managed over 30 days out with our guests.  To find out why so many people book their fly fishing courses through us, check out the rest of the site and if you would like further details please Email Nick here.

Mike Williams with a nice Rainbow

Mike Williams

20th July 2005

Mike is a Porsche fanatic so while fishing we talked cars.  Every now and again a fish would come our way including a modified version of the Rainbow Trout, complete with forked tail, see right!

A superbly condition fish in everyway, despite a mishap with its tail. It fought for over 5 minutes taking Mike down to the backing on one occassion.

Was this the work of an Otter?

Mike e mailed after his trip to say " Many thanks for an absolutely splendid day on Wednesday  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and was very impressed with your knowledge and tuitionThe fact that I had 100% of your attention for the whole day made this the best value "experience" days I have been on.

The weather, despite being damp, was probably more suitable than the previous days of very hot weather and made for a great day.  My first ever fish on fly was great fun and was followed by a great fight from the second fish which turned out to be a tad over 3lbs despite having that strange shaped tail!

Finishing on a high with the third fish really did complete an excellent day. Once again many thanks for everything that you taught me - I now feel equipped with enough understanding & confidence to progress on my own.  I look forward to returning again.  Mike Williams, July 2005

Martin Newton with his first ever fish on Dry Fly and his first ever Brown Trout. 26 to 29th July 2005, Martin Newton.

Martin had been  purchased a 2 day voucher but decided to add a further 2 days.  During an action packed course we worked on casting at Exe Valley, took to a boat and used Dry Fly to catch a number of Trout, plus we also covered the use of sinking lines and the various techniques available.  With some River Trout fishing on Thursday the 28th we finally ended the trip with a very early morning tide and Martins first ever Bass before heading to the River Taw for some Salmon fishing.  Flexible Fly Fishing courses are our specialty!  If you are an experienced angler and would like a varied week trying a host of venues while improving your casting please call Nick on 01398 331660

GUEST COMMENT :

" Pete made the day work with a mixture of information and practical demonstrations and obviously plenty of time to actually fish.  I thought it was just right. "
