June got off
to a warm start, at times a little too warm! The Rivers
became very low but by adopting varied tactics our guests still
enjoyed some fine sport. Stuart Forsyth made the trip
all the way from Scotland for a 7 day visit including a pick
up from Bristol Airport. We worked on his casting first and
then spent the rest of the week chasing Trout, Bass and Pike
on the Fly. Stuart returned home with a variety of new
species under his belt and immediately booked another 7 day
autumn trip. After a very hectic May I took a couple of
days off but still managed 20 days out on the water with
guests. As always there is never enough room to post all
of our pictures but this month I have provided some
alternatives to small stillwater fishing. See you in
July! Email
Nick here.

A
slightly different star to kick off the gallery this
month. Instead of a fish we have a Grass Snake
that I photographed during a one day course. One
of the most enjoyable aspects of Fly Fishing is the
huge array of wildlife encountered during each trip,
including Kingfishers, Otters and Deer. |

Alasdare Lambert has been
a regular guest for 3 years. He started his
fishing on Exe Valley with
a 1 1/2 day course before
purchasing equipment and then heading for Syon Park near
London. After a year of practice he returned and
we headed out for his first proper session of River
Fishing. Enjoying a relaxing day Alasdare knew
that he had found his calling. During his latest
trip he managed this near 2lb Grayling from a local
Westcountry River during a guided
session. The fish was safely returned. |

2004 Ewan
Davy enjoyed his Christmas present of a Gift
Voucher so much from 2002 that his wife decided to
buy him another one for Christmas 2003! In his own
words " "
A superb antidote to the stresses of the office and
probably the best Christmas present I have ever had. "
Ewan had already fished a few Westcountry spate
Rivers so this time opted for a chalkstream.
Most of these slow moving fisheries abundant in fly life
are located in Southern areas such as Hampshire or
Wiltshire. However here in Devon we have something
very close in the River Otter. This stunning
stretch of water is available on a day ticket basis and guided
trips are available. Here Ewan has just struck
into a fish on one of the warmest days so far this year. |

COMMENT :
This
is the third year I've been coming down to Exmoor to fish with you and
it just keeps getting better. From Wild Brownies on the Mole and Exe,
to
some big, hard fighting Rainbows on Exe Valley to my first ever
Grayling,
it's been fun, exciting and a challenge all rolled into one. It's been
the
perfect way for me to relax and recharge my batteries.
