April 2003
I
received this message from one of our April guests ...
I know I
said that I'll ring you after I'd been for the first time, but I
thought I'd wait until my local paper had been printed. See what your
tuition achieved. "Shuttle/Times

Another town angler,
Ray Greenhill, used a red buzzer on the Andy Capp to catch eight trout
totaling 11lb though viva and Montana flies were most effective"

The English
weather may be a little unpredictable but I don't think that
many people would deny that during spring our country sports
the kind of scenery found in very few places across the
world. Exmoor is certainly right up their amongst the
best and even better it is home to lakes, rivers and coastline
teeming with fish and just waiting to take a fly. My
diary shows that we spent 21 days out fishing this month so
there is not enough room to post every individual result, but
find out below how just a few of my guests faired during the
merry month of May!

May
7th 2003 : Regular guest of Nick hart Fly
Fishing Ashley Pharaoh ( pictured left ) called up and
asked for a day out on Blagdon.
Having fished a number of times with his good mate
Chris ( pictured right ) they were both frustrated to
blank on every occasion. One glance at their
usual rigs and some talk about tactics revealed the
problems and so we set off for Butcombe Bay in
excellent conditions and with a team of flies which I
expected to provide some action. To their credit
both guys did exactly what I asked and were rewarded
with 4 fish each and dropped a few others also.
The smiles say it all! Ashley e mailed to say ... "
It was an excellent day, just what I wanted.
" Incidentally
Ashley is a very talented script writer so do look out
for his second series of "
Paradise Heights "
appearing on BBC this summer.

30
& 31st May
Rodney
Brickell was treated to a gift voucher by his daughter
and enjoyed a day and a half fishing for the Wild Trout
of Exmoor. Fishing with his trusty cane rod he
extracted more than a few unsuspecting fish !
However as should always be the case there were new
things to be learnt and Rod particularly enjoyed a new
nymph fishing technique I had shown him, proving that
even with a wealth of experience a guide / instructor
can help to better technique and
understanding. |
|
I was
very pleased to receive a hand written card from Rodney
which read ... "
Thank you for the excellent time I enjoyed in your
company over the weekend. Weather was superb, too
good for rising fish!, scenery lovely and tuition will
be of great value to my future fly fishing. I
trust I did not try your patience too much, I really did
learn a lot in a short period. Thank you again for
the use of the wonderful waders/boots and back support,
I have put these on my wish list and will contact you
when the Piggy Bank is a little healthier. The
photos are a special memory of a great weekend, Kind
Regards, Rod. " |
