You may have noticed the new Pike page and had a quick glance only to be greeted by one of those annoying, I will get round to it soon notes ! Well, I have got around to it, all be it a few weeks later than anticipated !

For pure excitement there is little, other than salt water fishing, to rival Pike on the fly. The power, speed and aggressive instinct of these fish has to be seen to be believed. What's more Pike are well spread throughout the U.K. and it is almost guaranteed that you will be able to find a venue within easy reach of your home.I began a few years back on a local canal and clearly remember the first 'attack' upon my fly.

Esox ( latin for Pike ! ) had been quitely waiting over on the opposite bank of Tiverton Canal when my offering bumbled past him. Funny thing is I was not expecting anything to happen, this being a cold January day, I was just out there to wet a line, cast a fly and get away from the house. Then, BANG !!!

I watched as like a coiled spring this thing unwound itself, shot 20ft at an astonishing rate and slammed into the combination of Fur and Feather designed to resemble a small fish. I was into my first Pike ! At the end of that astonishing session I had beached 10 fish and lost countless others.
