THE GALLERY - SEPTEMBER 2005

September cooled down slightly, but the rains have not appeared, so this season has not matched 2004 for Salmon fishing.  However, Pete and I still racked up 33 days out on the water during September providing our popular fly fishing courses and guide services.  Here are some of the most notable catches from the month of September.  Email Nick here.

Fly Fishing for Summer Carp

29th August to 4th September 2005

Stuart Forsyth

Stuart is no stranger to these pages, having enjoyed several weeks over the years fishing with either Nick or Pete for Trout, Grayling, Bass, Pike and Carp.

Stuart returns in October to target Pike on Fly

Fergus Shaw and a Wild Brown Trout from the River Exe in Somerset Guy Greenway and Friends : 22nd - 24th Sept 2005

Nick and Pete teamed up for this group of 4 friends all looking to get away from the city and enjoy a little peace and quiet in the countryside.  After an initial session working on their casting we enjoyed a variety of fishing on both River and Stillwater.

Perhaps one of the most notable catches was this Wild Brown Trout caught by Fergus Shaw, guided by Pete Tyjas.

The odd escaped Rainbow Trout proves a surprise when fly fishing with a small brook rod for Trout on Somerset streams Left : Although we had hoped for rain and some Salmon fishing, Guy Greenway looks chuffed with this escaped Rainbow Trout which snaffled his dry fly.

Right: Simon had only been fly fishing once before, 3 years ago and had caught nothing.  By day 2 he had his casting working so well that he managed his first ever fish on Wimbleball Lake while fishing from a boat.  Awesome!

GUEST COMMENT :

" The whole week was a wonderful experience. "

Graham Hewitt, May 2005

"Fantastic few days Nick.  I'd always thought that I wouldn't enjoy fishing a reservoir but Wimbleball was beautiful and the fishing was fascinating - something I'd never have discovered if you hadn't taken me up there." Hugh Caslake, London, September 2005.
